Enrolment Information.
ENROLMENT APPLICATION INFORMATION.
An Enrolment Application Period and a specific ‘Open Day’ for all enrolment applications to Kilmacrennan N.S. is held annually. The school community is informed of the dates, time and venue of the Open Day through the
– parish newsletter/ Informing pupils in the school/ Notices in the Donegal News and Tírconaill Tribune newspapers and a notice on the school website.
Please note that an application for enrolment does not guarantee a place for each child.
Please note that applications received prior to the application deadline do not assume priority over applications received by the closing date, but will be assessed by the criteria of the Enrolment Policy.
The Board of Management will notify all Round One applicants of their decision during the month of February or March.
Should the number of applicants exceed the number of places, priority will be given to the oldest children in the priority categories identified in the School Enrolment Policy. The Enrolment Policy, which includes these categories, is available from the School Principal.
Applications received after the Round One application deadline date, but before April 30th, will be placed on a Criteria One waiting list, or a waiting list for Criteria A-E applicants. Places, if available, will be offered in order of age within these categories. Successful applicants will be informed by May 30th. A further application process may follow, subject to available places, as decided by the Board of Management.
If transferring from another school, it is school policy that the Principal Teacher will make contact with the Principal of that school, seeking pupil progress reports, and other information, prior to the offering of a place.
The BOM reserves the right to refuse enrolment in exceptional circumstances if, in the opinion of the BOM, there is evidence of an unacceptable risk to other pupils, school staff or school property.
The BOM reserves the right to refuse enrolment when it has determined that the school is full. This has been determined as when the total enrolment figure of the school reaches one pupil less than the appointment figure for a further mainstream class teacher.
The BOM reserves the right to refuse enrolment to a specific class stream when it has determined that the maximum permissible number of pupils in a single class has been reached.
Where a Board of Management refuses to enrol a student in a school, the parents have a statutory entitlement under Section 29 of the Education Act to appeal that decision to the Secretary General of the Dept of Education and Skills.
Intake numbers may fluctuate from year to year, depending on whole school enrolment.
Please contact the School Principal for enrolment applications/queries/information.
