Dragon’s Den
Rang 6 recently participated in a Biz World workshop which gave them a valuable insight into the world of buisness. BizWorld workshops are delivered in the classroom over a two-day period by specially-trained BizWorld Ireland tutors. They are usually targeted at sixth class pupils.
The workshops teach the basics of entrepreneurship, business and finance by showing how the entrepreneurial cycle operates. Working in groups of five, pupils developed their own mini-enterprise, so they got a real feel for how a business operates / hands-on business experience.
Pupils were taken through the entire entrepreneurial cycle – from company formation and applying for jobs in their companies, to market research with younger classes in the school, and then designing, producing and marketing their business idea.
They learned about pitching for investment and – to bring the workshop to another level – they were visited by two business people who played the role of venture capitalist and the groups had the opportunity to pitch, ‘Dragon’s Den’ style! The business people, heard each company’s pitch and decided how much ‘BizBucks’ to invest in their company.
