Dear Parent,
Please note that our Christmas plays are scheduled for Wednesday of this week. The Junior to Second Class plays are from 11.30 until 12.30-ish!
The Carol Service for third to sixth class pupils is scheduled for 1pm and will last approximately 45mins.
There will be a draw for a Christmas hamper, a Christmas cake and other prizes on Wednesday. Tickets are available in the school this week at €2 per strip or three for €5.
Santa is scheduled to call to the school this Thursday.
The school will close on Friday, 21st December at 12 noon. We will re-open on Monday, 7th January.
Letterkenny Pantomime Society are hosting a performance of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ in An Grianán Theatre on Saturday, 19th January at 8pm. Proceeds are in aid of Kilmacrennan school. Tickets are available from the school and the theatre.

Christmas Events

Please note that we are hosting our Christmas Plays and Carol Service in the School on Wednesday, 19th December.
Junior Infants to Second Class are performing short plays in the school from 11.15 -12.30 pm.(arrive 11.15 onwards; 11.30 start)
Third to Sixth Class will host a Carol Service from 1-2pm.
Santa Claus will call to the school on Thursday, 20th December.
Sensory Space
Dec 11th
We are delighted to have recently allocated a Sensory Space within our school and are grateful to the Donegal Oil Charity Foundation who were in a position to donate resources to allow us to establish this space. Representatives of the Donegal Oil Foundation dropped in to our Junior Infants class this week to donate these resources and we are most grateful for this.

Congratulations to all who took part in the Céim Aniar poetry competition in Downings last Saturday. It was a most enjoyable day, with 41 pupils from the school participating.
D’éirigh go h-an mhaith le gach duine ar an lá. Bhuaidh Seán comórtas Rang a Ceathair agus bhuaidh Máire comórtas Rang a Sé. Bhuaidh Bríd, Róisin, Ava, Grace, Rose, Lucia, Donagh, Alanna, Cara, Patrick boinn ar an lá.

Please note the following,
The Céim Aniar poetry competition is scheduled for Saturday, 1st December. All taking part are to be in Downings Resource Centre, Main Street, Downings at 10am. Ádh mór ar an lá le gach duine.
There will be a one-hour theatre performance of Arabian Nights by the West Midland Theatre Group in the school at 12.45pm on Monday, 3rd December. The cost is €2 per child, or €5 per family.
Vincent de Paul, Kilmacrennan wish to thank all for contributions to their recent food hamper collection. It is much appreciated.
The school GAA League has reached the semi-final stage and excitement is building.
The Christmas Concerts are scheduled for Wednesday, 19th December. The Junior classes performances will begin at 11.30am. Senior classes Christmas Carols will begin at 1pm. Final details will issue closer to the day. Santa is scheduled to call to the school on Thursday, 20th December.
The school is once again co-hosting a pantomime night in An Grianán Theatre on Saturday, 19th January. Tickets will be on sale in the school next week for ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and would make an ideal Christmas present!
The school will close for the Christmas holidays on Friday, 21st December at 12 noon and will re-open on Monday, 8th January, 2019.

Vincent de Paul Food Hampers

Dear Parent
Our local Vincent de Paul are organising Christmas food hampers and are hoping each family could donate one food item towards this. If you are in a position to help, we will accept donations in the school until Thursday, 22nd November.
Possible suggestions include (in date) tinned food, tea, coffee, pasta, spaghetti, rice, flour, jam, jelly, cereals, biscuits, crisps etc.

Please note the following dates for your diary,
A six-week swimming course for pupils in First and Fifth classes commenced on Thursday, 8th November. This is also an opportune time to refresh children’s name labels on coats, uniforms, swimming gear, lunch boxes, pencil cases, tin whistles and anything that has the potential to move!
A Súgradh Le Chéile workshop for parents of Junior Infant pupils is scheduled for Friday, November 16th at 12.30pm. All are welcome to attend.
The Parent-teacher meetings are scheduled for Thursday, 22nd Nov from 3.15-5.45pm. Individual appointment times will issue shortly.
Our boys and girls soccer teams are scheduled to participate in the FAIS Donegal 7 a side soccer finals in Ballyare this week. We wish both teams good luck in the event.
A Third and Fourth class team will participate in the Futsal competition in late November.
The In-House Gaelic football leagues are ongoing with one group stage game left for teams before the semi-finals line-up is known.
Pupils from our school will participate in the Guth Ghoill Irish language poetry competition in Downings on Saturday, 1st December. Please let your class teacher know if your child wishes to participate in the event.
We will host a West Midland’s theatre group performance of ‘Arabian Nights’ for all pupils in the School Hall on Monday, 3rd December at 12.45pm. The cost is €2 per child, or €5 per family.
I wish to congratulate all our athletes who participated in the Donegal cross-country championship in Buncrana recently. We had a most successful outing, particularly our U-11 and U-13 girls who captured team gold medals in the Large Schools Category.
Finally, to conclude with some old chestnuts; with dark, cold and wet mornings a feature of Winter, I wish to re-iterate that children should not be left to school before morning opening times, and I request that no cars use the staff/bus car-park in the mornings and at 2 and 3pm pick-up times.
