25th March 2020

Dear Parent(s),

I hope you and your family are safe and well. It looks like this Corona virus is going to be with us longer than we anticipated but rest assured it will pass and hopefully sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, I would like children to continue their studies as much as possible. At Senior infant level reading, reciting rhymes/songs, simple maths, letter formation, oral language and play are very important.

I am sending home some more worksheets, workbooks and some links that may be used to keep their little minds active.

Please understand that they are only aids for your child and children should be encouraged to do same but not forced upon them. I understand that families at this time can be quite stressed as it is and I don’t want to add to that stress.

If children refuse just leave books out for them to read and copies to scribble on (children have been practicing signing their full names every morning and this could be continued at home). Get them to help set the table while asking them for help i.e. “I have two spoons, how many more do I need?” etc. The children in this class are great little helpers and are always willing to help and I have to commend them for that.

Tell the children that I will be marking them on their work when we eventually get back to school so that they can get their well earned certificates.

Wish them all the best and let them know I’m thinking about them and I hope they stay safe.

Take care and keep yourselves safe too.

Sincerely,
