Young ‘Chicks’ at heart Visit Kilmac NS!

The Chick Hatching Project, organised by Ms Ferry’s Sixth Class, is generating great egg-citement in the school.  Three chicks have successfully hatched and are doing quite well.  The pupils have given informative presentations on the Life-Cycle of a Chick to all classes in the school.

Sixth Class have named the three arrival,  Cheesepuff, Mc Nugget and Big Bird!                                            .

A most enjoyable morning was had too when the Kilmacrennan Young at Heart group visited the school to see the new arrivals.  Below see some photographs of their visit.

School Quiz Success

Kilmacrennan NS won the recent County Primary School’s Garda Quiz title on the 8th March 2018.  Congratulations to John-James, Jack, Éilis and Dan on a great achievement.

This is the third title won this year, along with the GAA Cumann na mBunscol County Title and the LK Credit Union U-13 title.

School Closure

The school will be closed for pupils on Friday, 9th March to facilitate staff training on new Child Protection guidelines.

World Book Week

Though slightly delayed due to the inclement weather, World Book Week was a most enjoyable event. Sixth Class teamed up with Junior and Senior Infants for a week of Peer and Buddy Reading, with other classes holding similar events.

There was great interest too in the Design a Book Token Art competition, with prizes awarded in each class.

Sixth Class took part in the Read DL novel reading event. ‘A Monster Calls’ was this year’s chosen novel.

Master Gallagher was compere for World Book Week Assembly.  Many children dressed as their favourite film or literary character.  The reading by children of excerpts from both named and unnamed novels proved popular.  Well done to all involved.
