SOCCER: Kilmacrennan NS were celebrating ‘double-style’ on Wednesday in Finn Park as they took the honours in both the girls and boys competitions in the large schools section to take the ‘Chairmans Cups’.

In glorious conditions, they faced off against both Illistrin NS in the boys and girls finals. The boys final was a tight affair with only one goal separating the sides at the end, an early Rory McGrenra goal being the difference between both sides.

Final score Kilmacrennan 1-0 Illistrin NS.

The girls final saw the girls once again face Illistrin NS and in another tight game, a hat-trick of goals from Katherine Black sealing the honours.

Final score Kilmacrennan NS 3-1 Illistrin NS.

2015 Ulster Soccer Final

Well done to the girls on their victory at the Letterkenny District FAIS 5 a side competition at Ballyare. They recorded seven straight victories on the day.  This qualified them for the Donegal Soccer Finals. They won this event too, recording another three impressive victories.

The team then qualified for the Ulster Finals, held in Cootehill in Cavan on Thursday, 23rd April.  The team performed well on the day, defeating the Monaghan champions 14-1, drawing 2-2 with the Cavan team (and eventual champions), while we were edged out by 4 goals to two in a great game by the Inishowen champions.  Our teams’ heroics weren’t sufficient to qualify for the All Ireland final but the girls can be proud of their effort.

New School Garden & Chick Project!

misc march2015 067Well done to all who participated in creating a new school garden.  Master Gallagher co-ordinated the project which involved all the children in the school helping out.  Thanks too to the parents who assisted.  We are hoping for a bumper harvest!

Our chicks hatched successfully too.  Ms Ferry’s class were delighted with the 14 chicks- the most successful School Chick Project to date.
