School Newsletter
May 30th
Dear Parent/s
We have organised our School Tour dates as follows
-Junior and Senior Infants- Wed 5th June
-First and Second Class- Thursday, 6th June
-Third and Fourth Class-Tuesday, 11th June
-Fifth and Sixth Class- Tuesday, 4th June.
Individual information notes will issue from each class teachers regarding the tours.
We hope to organise our Junior (Junior Infants to Second Class) and Senior Sports (Third to Sixth Class) Day over the coming days/ weeks.
We are raising our fifth Green Flag this Friday at 1.30pm. Raymond Mc Bride from the Kilmacrennan Men’s Shed will raise the flag. We are grateful to Raymond and co for providing the school with six new bird boxes this year.
Louis Walsh was spotted having tea with Master Gallagher in the Kilmacrennan Thatched Cottage tearoom recently. They are planning the annual In-School ‘Kilmac’s Got Talent’ event in the coming weeks. Pupils should let Master Gallagher know if they wish to participate in the spectacular event.
The End-of-Year Mass for Sixth Class and their parents is scheduled for Tuesday, 18th June at 10am.
School Booklists and details of the School Book Rental scheme will issue next week and will be posted on the school website. We would appreciate Self-Addressed-Envelopes for the purpose of posting school reports (one per family).
We are closed for pupils on Monday, 3rd June (Bank Holiday).

Kilmac’s ‘Got Talent’
May 28th
Louis Walsh was spotted around these parts recently, having heard that Kilmac NS is to host its highly popular annual in-school Kilmac Got Talent in the coming weeks. Further details will issue in-school shortly.
End of Year Mass
May 28th
The end of year mass for Sixth Class and their parents is scheduled is Tuesday 18th June at 10 am.

Green Flag Success
May 9th
The school is delighted to note that we have received our fifth Green Flag Award (Biodiversity theme) at a presentation ceremony in the Radisson Hotel, Letterkenny on Thursday, May 9th 2019. The school was represented at the event by Mrs Doherty , Adrian (SNA), Clodagh, Rebecca and Aisling (pupils) .
We will raise the Green Flag at the school on Friday 31 May. Comhghairdeas le gach duine.
Letterkenny Feis
May 9th
We had a large number of pupils participating in the Letterkenny Feis on Friday, 10th May in the Irish poetry Recitation Competition and in the Class Music Groups. We had many individual winners and we also won the Junior and Intermediate Instrumental Music competitions and were runner-up in the Senior Section. Bhí lá iontach againn.
First Holy Communion
May 9th
Our Second Class pupils had a great day when they celebrated the Sacrament of First Holy Communion in St Columba’s Chapel on Saturday, 13th May. Many thanks to all who contributed to the lovely ceremony and to the parents who organised a splendid Communion Tea in the School Hall.
Bag2School Collection
May 9th
Reminding you of the upcoming clothing collection in conjunction with Bag2School; the bags can be dropped off in the School Office on Monday, 13th May.
Kilmac 5k
May 8th
There was a big turn-out of runners and walkers at the Kilmac 5k event on Tuesday, 7th May, with over 100 runners and over 250 walkers participating. Congratulations to the race winner, Peter O Donnell of Milford AC who completed the course in an impressive 16.48 while Monica Mc Granaghan of Letterkenny AC was the first lady home in a great time of 19.30. Well done to all.
We wish to thank all our sponsors, An Garda Síochana and all the volunteers who ensured a smoothly run event.
School Debating Competition
May 8th
Congrats to the Kilmacrennan School Debating team who recently won the LK District Debating Shield. Mary, Bríd, David, Grace, Róisin and Ava were presented with the cup and individual certificates at a presentation event in Letterkenny recently. Comhghairdeas libh.
