Cumann na mBunscol County Winners 2014

Congratulations to the school on their win at the Cumann na mBunscol County Quiz Finals. Thirty five teams entered on the night and following 100 questions, examining childrens knowldege on GAA, Irish history & geography, music, current affairs and general knowledge, the school team emerged victorious. Manus, Conor, Méabh and Ciara will represent the school at the Ulster Allianz Cumann na mBunscol finals on March 25th.
Réalt Uladh 2014

Comhghairdeas le gach duine a ghlac páirt i Réalt Uladh san LYIT ar na mallaibh. Well done to all our participants in the recent Réalt Uladh poetry and song competition in the LYIT. It was great to capture a number of coveted trophies and several medals on the day. Maith sibh go léir.
Credit Union Quiz Success.

Well done to all our pupils who participated in the Letterkenny Credit Union Quiz on Monday, 3rd February. There were a total of 78 teams on the night.
Kilmacrennan N.S. won the U-11 Junior Section, with a great score of 58 out of a possible 60 marks.
Kilmacrennan were also successful in the U-13 Senior Section. A score of 71 secured first place for one of the school teams while a score of 69 points by another of the school teams ensured a joint second place for that team.
Both of the winning teams will participate in the regional chapter final in the Mt. Errigal Hotel on Sunday, 2nd March.
Grandparents’ Day.

We hosted a ‘Grandparent Day’ on Friday, 31st January, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. All were invited to 10 a.m. mass in the chapel, followed by tea and St Bridget Crossmaking in the School Hall. There was a large turnout on the day. The children enjoyed grandparents visiting the classrooms. ‘Changing Times’ was the theme chosen for class discussions this year.
School Art Exhibition.

The children hosted an Art Exhibition in the school on Mon 10th February from 12 noon until 4p.m. There was a great turnout on the day. We have many budding Van Gogh’s in our midst! ( one is not referring to his moment of madness, of course!)
Ceremony of Light.
Jan 22nd
The Confirmation Class will participate in a Ceremony of Light event in the chapel on Thursday, 6th February at 7 p.m.
Enrolment Applications Information for 2014-15.
Jan 9th
There will be an ‘Enrolment Application’ in Kilmacrennan N.S. on Thursday, January 30th 2014 from 9.30 a.m. until 3.00p.m. for enrolment applications of pupils for the 2014-15 schoolyear.
The closing date for applications is 3p.m. on Friday, 14th February 2014.
Please note that an application for enrolment does not guarantee a child’s enrolment. A Board of Management reserves the right of refusal.
Intake numbers may fluctuate from year to year, depending on whole school enrolment.
Successful applicants will be notified during the month of March. There will be a ‘Meet and Greet Day’ in late May/early June for pupils who are due to enrol in Junior Infants for the forthcoming schoolyear.
Pantomime Event.
Dec 4th
Letterkenny Pantomime Society hosted the opening evening performance of ‘Snow White’ in An Grianan Theatre on Saturday, 18th January 2014. The proceeds of this event benefited school funds and we thank you for your support on the night.
Sportshall Athletics.
Dec 4th
Well done to all athletes who participated in the regional Sportshall event in the Aura Cente in Letterkenny. The school won three team gold and one team bronze in the competition.
Christmas Arrangements.
Nov 11th
The school Christmas Concert was held in the school on Friday, 13th December. Junior to 2nd Class perfomed plays, while 3rd to 6th Class entertained with a Carol Service. Well done to all for an enjoyable day.
