February Newsletter

We hope all are well rested after the mid-term break and we are looking forward to the remainder of term. The children are busy on a number of fronts, participating in a range of events across different classes, including Scríobh Leabhar Gaeilge, Feis Loreto, GAA Indoor competitions, quizzes, Sportshall, World Book Dayetc over the coming weeks. Pancake Tuesday was also a huge success in the school and we thank Anne, our School Secretary, for her endeavours in flipping over four hundred pancakes.

Many Sixth Class pupils are looking forward to their Confirmation on Sunday 26 February at 12.30pm. There will be light refreshments in the School Hall afterwards. As per tradition, parents of Fifth Class pupils are invited to host the refreshments and a separate note has issued to the class.

The Board of Management conducted its Annual Child Protection Review at a Board of Management meeting on 21 February 2023. Copies of the school’s Child Protection policy and guidelines are available from the School Office upon request.

School Parking

A number of parents have expressed concern over current car parking practices along the Main Road outside of the school. The concerns relate mainly to the blocking of vision lines for pupils and parents as they attempt to cross the pedestrian path, with the issue caused by cars parking too close to the crossing and on the footpath.

From a school perspective, and with regard to pupil, parent and staff safety, we reiterate that no cars etc should be in the carpark immediately outside the school gates as this is for bus and staff parking only.
